Music Production & Audio Engineering
Lynas was born in 1985 in New York City. He began his musical career at a young age, starting to sing and perform professionally when he was eight years old. During adolescence, he gravitated towards music production and recording (becoming familiar with audio hardware and software), simultaneously teaching himself piano and guitar while enrolled at Stuyvesant High School in TriBeCa. In 2004, he applied to The Sonic Arts Center at City College (CUNY), and was one of only eighteen accepted to his class (out of hundreds of applicants). He spent the next four years delving deeply into his academic studies; everything from electricity, signal flow, studio tech and design to microphone application, music theory, songwriting, production techniques, sound design and synthesis, mixing, mastering, audio for video and more. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Music (with a concentration in Music Technology) in 2008. A few months after leaving CCNY, Lynas started Wonderful Recording and found his first home on the corner of Houston and Broadway in SoHo.
For the next two years, Lynas continued to grow his network and his business, gaining experience in all aspects of running a studio - problems and solutions big to small, issues ranging from the administrative to the creative, and everything in between. Early on, he was lucky to work with a number of up-and-coming (and many soon-to-be successful) New York City musicians - Wonderful came to occupy a unique and incredibly important space in the NYC recording studio landscape; a centrally located commercial facility with high-quality equipment, a capable and driven engineer/producer/studio manager, and ultimately, one of the few places in NYC that independent artists could realize their potential as artists and get the sounds they wanted on a limited budget. It was also at Wonderful that Lynas composed and played the synth line that was used by Kanye West in the hit single Monster.
In 2010, Lynas relocated to a bigger and better space in DUMBO, Brooklyn - ishlab. During his four years at ishlab, Lynas transformed the space - not just physically, but also by creating, curating and facilitating a vibrant cultural center that had been sorely lacking in NYC. Most notably, he recorded and mixed A$AP Rocky’s debut mixtape Live.Love.A$AP entirely at ishlab. In 2014, Lynas signed a production deal with Rocky's creative agency AWGE.
In early 2015, the building that housed ishlab was sold, and Lynas moved a few blocks away to Brickhaus Studios, where he continued working as a producer and engineer on a variety of projects until March of 2018, when he inked a co-publishing agreement with Defend Music and moved to Los Angeles, where he currently resides.
With well over a decade of professional experience working with hundreds of artists in all aspects of music production, Lynas' diverse skillset makes him an invaluable asset to any project. To inquire about working with him, please get in touch via the form on the contact page.
